Day 3: Sunday, 6/9/13

We were expecting mountains when we got into Colorado, but we had a few more hours of this.

Garden of the Gods....we are half way through our trip...and so far this has been my favorite place...I even liked it better than the Grand Canyon.

 Pikes Peak in the distance.

This one is called Kissing Camels

This is a Magpie, which I have heard of but had never seen before.  We thought they were so unusual and pretty, but as we are driving further west, we realize, they are pretty common out here.

 The Manitou Cliff Dwellings

The largest area...a spiritual ritual/ceremony room.
For some reason, Kate went a little gangsta in there.

 Grinding corn.

Not a planned sight, but on our way from Manitou Springs Colorado, toward Four Corners, we traveled through this beautiful area...we eventually got so high that we drove right by some of the snow that is still sticking around.

 This valley was so pretty.

Just past Durango and not far from New Mexico or Arizona, we boondocked in a nice little town called Cortez.  Beautiful mountains like this one were the backdrop behind nearly every store in the town.
