Down Home

Braylon and I headed down to Poe this weekend to spend some time with the family. MaMaw Helen's birthday was earlier in the week, cousin Christine had her birthday party on Saturday, and we wanted to see mom before she headed out to the beach later this week.
Braylon couldn't wait to get outside to play with dad's dog Maggie Blue on Saturday morning.

Here is the Birthday girl- Christine.

Handsome cousin Isaiah.

Rotten, cupcake-coated Braylon.

Not sure who had more cupcake on them, Bray or JoLee.

And our little cutie, Joshua.

Catching Up

I am a little behind with my posts. Here are a couple of pictures from the weekend before last. Braylon, BooBoo, and Lando. I can't remember what they were playing...possibly school or pet shop, whatever it was, Bray always has a good time playing with his Boo Boo.

Me and Bray at the ball game. He may have no other features of mine, but that kid does have my chin.

Making the Best....

of a Leaf-less Situation.

Well, I guess I shouldn't say leafless, but almost. We have only one tree in our yard...it is right next to the driveway and I am not sure what kind of tree it is, but it has these tiny little, skinny leaves. Bray wanted to make a leaf pile to jump in so we swept (the leaves were too small to rake) all the little leaves into one corner of the driveway and created the most pathetic little leaf pile. But always the optimist, Braylon jumped right in. (I was worried that he would break an ankle as the leaves really didn't provide much cushion between him and our concrete driveway.)
After the jumping came the gentle tossing of the leaves into the air.

Followed by laying in the leaves.

Then when he started getting leaves stuck to himself, he decided Mama should have leaves on her too.

So rotten!

The leaf storm!

Braylon was very proud of himself and found it hilarious that he had covered his Mama with leaves.
He had a blast even though...

eventually his boots became a little too uncomfortable to wear.

We really did have a ton of fun...pathetic leaves and all.

The Blair Witch Project picture...too funny not to include!

Big Stick Policy

Here is Lando with one of his favorite "toys".
Every time Lando goes outside he has to play with this big stick. It is so funny, sometimes he tries to bring it back into the house with him and it gets caught on the door way and stops him in his tracks. One last run before he goes under the knife...poor Lando is being neutered tomorrow.

Turkey Lips

As I am sure is the case with most of you who have kids, we have tons of little nicknames that we call Braylon from time to time. One of Drew's favorites is Turkey Lips. Well this evening we had a cute little conversation that went like this.
Drew: "Hey Turkey Lips"
Bray: "No, you're the turkey"
Me: "Yeah, Dad's the turkiest"
Bray: "Yeah, he's a Thanksgiving dinner"
Oh, my little nut! How he comes up with some of this stuff I will never know.
Here are some pictures of our turkey lips playing outside this weekend. PS: He dressed himself.
Digging in the dirt...I guess he didn't want to get his boots dirty.

Happy Halloween

Braylon had a fall festival at school which included a costume parade for the whole school and a party in his classroom. Here is Braylon with one of his teachers, Miss Tammy...Bray has become very fond of her.
Even though trick-or-treat was the night before Halloween, Braylon still dressed up for us last night. I guess he was tired of the Luke Skywalker costume...he had worn it for five events...so he came up with this costume (which he informed us was a pirate) all on his own. Notice his face, he was saying Arrrrg!
As I was posting this, Bray was looking at the above picture and I said look at that pirate. Bray said: "Yep, he even has his underwear hanging down".

Then a quick costume adjustment, talk dad into being a horse, and ta-da, a cowboy!

Candy is way more important than pictures

April came over to trick-or-treat with us on Thursday. All we asked was for one good picture. Braylon was way more interested in eating his Nerds than posing for a picture. But you know I love this series of shots....they turned out even better than if Bray would have stood still and given us a perfect pose.

Trick-or-Treat 2008

Trick-or-Treat, here we come. Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Queen Amidala.
Braylon, April, and I went trick-or-treating while Drew stayed back to hand out candy.

Braylon poured his candy out as soon as we got back on our porch, but even though he was excited about all his candy he still tried to share with Lando. The whole family...even Lando Calrissian.

The Great Pumpkin Carving

We carved our pumpkins on Wednesday so we would be ready for Trick-or-treaters the next day.
Three Jack-O-Lanterns.

Braylon didn't find the pumpkin guts nearly as disgusting as these pictures indicate...

well he did find it disgusting, but he loved it!

Bray was very diligent at picking the pumpkin seeds out from the goop so we could roast them.

The finished product...

all aglow.
